The Cisco Webex App for Chrome extends the Windows version of the Chrome browser so that it can communicate with conferencing and video sharing feeds sent through the Webex platform. You can use this extension to join Webex meetings with just a single push of a button. Cisco's cloud-based technology deals with all of the actual networking stack, so you shouldn't normally have to deal with any configuration options besides entering a few credentials so that you can log into a meeting.

Power users can share secure audio, video and content feeds with others through their Webex account. Those who only want to log into other feeds will be able to bypass all of these tools, but they're always sitting there quietly in your browser in case you end up needing to use them.

Since the Webex platform is based on enterprise-level technology, it can handle a large number of people working together in a single meeting. Companies that allow other people to work from home or who are in the process of transitioning to a telecommuting paradigm will find this feature extremely useful.

Others who are only temporarily working from home and plan to return to the office at some point in the future would probably balk at having to install a completely different app just to log into a videoconferencing system. Webex for Chrome solves this problem by making it easy for new users to log into a remote video feed using nothing more than the same browser they rely on for everything else.

Pros

  • Simple browser-based interface
  • Connects to remote video feeds
  • Integrated audio system
  • Encrypted and secured

Cons
